Water damage to my iPhone X

Hello,

My iPhoneX has unfortunately been damaged by water. It doesn't come one and only the apple logo shows on the screen. I Took it to where I bought it from (http://www.iconnectng.com/) in Lagos which is an authorized Apple dealer, asked if they could fix it and I am willing to pay for the repair because I understand liquid damage is not part of apples 1-year warranty. Their reply was "Fixing it won't work because it is a colossal damage. Something that has to do with water." However, they told me I could swap it for a new one and pay the difference.

My question is this, is it impossible to fix an IphoneX that has been damaged by water? If it can be repaired, any idea of where I can send it too? because I am tired of dealing the guys here in Lagos.
