On a 2012 mid MacBook Pro I'm running High Sierra.
When I updated to it the numbers and period (.) on my Apple Extended Keyboard ceased to work. The other keys work fine.
I have tried both keyboards on other computers.
Any suggestion on I correct this problem?

Restart the computer holding down the command - option/alt - P - R keys before the gray screen appears. Continue to hold until you hear the startup chime for the second time. You may need to do this 2-3 times.
Try a SMC reset. The article covers when this is required, but doing this will not affect anything.
