Instrument Loops Sound Different

Hi All,

I'm just getting into the loop aspect of Logic and I'm noticing that a lot of the Instrument Loops sound different. What I mean by this is (see pic Instrument Loop 1), if I preview the loop "80s Dance Bass Synth 06" from the GarageBand loops, then drag it into the Workspace Area, the loop now sounds different. It's now missing the Delay/Echo part of the sound that I heard when I previewed it in the Loop Browser.

The newer loops (see pic Instrument Loop 2) have their problems as well. If I play the loop "Closing Fast Strings 01" from the Studio Strings loops, then drag it into the Workspace Area, this loop now sounds different too. It's now sounds thicker & brighter than it sounded when auditioned in the Browser. This one you have to listen carefully to hear, it just sounds off to me from the preview.

This is happening with a lot of these Instrument Loops, whether it be delay, reverb, volume, etc...

Anybody else seeing this... What am I missing here?

Thanks!

Ummmm those are green MIDI loops... if you wish to hear the effects drop them on an Audio track, then you will see a waveform and hear the effect.

The MIDI loops on an instrument track will not have effects.

Well... there are several theories. For one, the Preview pane plays back audio, not MIDI so you're hearing the rendered audio file. The explanation that is most feasible is that these Loops were made in Garageband using the Master Reverb and Echo setting. Since these are effects on the GB master bus they did not transfer to the MIDI Loops. Guess what... these Loops work perfectly in Garageband. It's been this way since Logic 8.

As I said, I'm new to loop aspect of Logic. So then what would be the point of using the MIDI loops of an instrument track without the effects and deviating from the original sound previewed in the loop browser?

Edit:

I just blasted through the Logic manual and the full difference between Audio & Instrument Loops.

So the question still remains... Why does the Instrument Loop sound different after being brought into the Workspace area?
