Problem with displaying file path in Finder's Get Info -> Where

Hi all,

I occasionally need to check some file's location and copy it to the clipboard. I used to use Finder -> Cmd-I then I used to copy the content of "Where" section.

Ever since updating to macOs Mojave, when the format of the path displayed in the "Where" section has changed. Instead of "/" forward slash character now I see "triangle" character.

How to solve this?

Thanks!

Truly, that helps. I can even right/control click and with Alt pressed down get "Copy xxx as Pathname".

Still, I am quite curious why the path separator changed in the Finder Info window after Mojave update and how to fix it.

You don't have to hold down the alt/option key.

As far as your curiosity, only Apple knows and no, you can't "fix" it.

Yes, the Get Info window's Where showed POSIX paths back in Snow Leopard, perhaps the last sensible operating system. It does not show POSIX paths in El Capitan and later. I don't have access to operating systems from Lion to Yosemite to check where the POSIX path changed.

Do you want to be able to select a Finder item, and just see the scrollable, POSIX path without any copying of the Pathname to the clipboard?

Ah, so this is not a failed update on only my Mac, but everybody has the same path display? I'm quite saddened by this.

At least you showed me some new ways to copy the path of a file. Thanks! 🙏

But, you know, a man is a slave of his habits... It will take some time before I get used to the new workflow 🙂

P.S. Where I mentioned Alt-Click was in the Finder's file view, and after right/Command clicking on the file itself.
