Is there a way to keep messages from deleting on iwatch when deleted from phone?

Since the new update.. When you delete a message from iPhone it auto deletes on iwatch. Is there a way to keep it from doing so?

Apple Watch Series 3, iOS 12.0.1, Iphone x, series 3 iwatch

Do you have Messages in iCloud turned on under Settings>your name>iCloud>Messages? If so, then that setting sync's anything you do on one device to all other devices. Turn it off, and that won't happen.

My Apple Watch (WatchOS 5.0.1) and iPhone (iOS 12.0.1) do not behave this way. I delete messages from the iPhone and they remain on the Apple Watch.

I never experienced the behavior you're describing.

My Watch app has Settings > Messages on "Mirror my iPhone."

Yea i get imessages, its the syncing with my watch. Since the new update they made it to were when you delete the messages off phone it immediately deletes from watch, as before you had to do it separately. I just wanted to see if there was a way ro do both if you wanted to. Doesn't matter if you have it mirroring your phone from what ive seen so far.

That wasn't my point. I'm saying that I do not have Messages in iCloud turned on, and my iMessages sync to all of my devices and my Mac. That is because I have Text Forwarding turned on in Messages.

So, you asked if your messages would still sync with Messages in iCloud turned off, and that is what I recommended. If it is not turned on, then when you delete a message from a particular device, it won't be deleted from your other devices.

I don't know about the Apple Watch, but iMessages I get on my iPhone(s) show up on my Mac, and messages that I send from my phone(s) also show up on my Mac. What doesn't happen is syncing when I delete messages. Also, I don't think that text messages are always in all places. And messages deleted in one place are not deleted in all places. I do have Text Message Forwarding to my Mac and each phone set up in the Messages preferences on the phones, however.

I have never turned on Messages in iCloud because I don't feel the need to have everything (especially SMS messages, which, for me, are typically from a vendor or solicitor) sync'd on each device.
