problem: it might be caused by the existing iPhone 8 plus replacing the malfunctioned one in September 2018, the 'exchange' mail server is not working. The following message appeared : Account error: Exchange - Cannot get mail.
The connection to the server failed.
Don't know any troubleshooting steps, would appreciate a solution.

That means that whatever you told Mail to use so that you could gain access to your account is not the right information. Typically, this comes from a misspelled e-mail address, misspelled password, and things like that.
I'd recommend you delete the mail account and re-install it, being careful to type the e-mail address and password exactly as they need to be.
