Cannot get mail the connection to the server failed

I have two email accounts, one using hotmail (personal account) and the other is an exchange (work account). My personal account works fine, however i have never been able to connect to the exchange and always get the dreaded "Cannot get mail the connection to the server failed" error message.

The exchange works fine for anyone who have had their phone connected for a while, however anyone new cannot connect to the exchange. This makes me think it is an IOS issue. I have compared all my settings with one of my colleague's who is able to connect and we can not figure out why it does not work.

I have already tried deleting and re-adding the account. Is there any hope to getting it to work? Seems like a big flaw for apple if its not something i'm doing wrong...

p.s. if it matters i have an iPhone 8 plus.

Fortunately, I have been able to get it to work now. Hopefully the below can help someone else.

When i was entering the mail account it was not automatically installing the certificate which was preventing it from connecting. What you need to do is email yourself the certificate and manually install it on your phone. After doing this you need to manually "trust" the certificate "settings/general/about/certificate trust settings". From this point you can delete and re-enter the mail account and it should work.

• Check the Internet connection

• Restart your iPhone

• Delete and re-enter mail account

• Change the mail account password

• Move emails to different folder

• Contact your Exchange Administrator (for Outlook Mail)

• Reset Network Settings

• Factory Reset your iPhone
