update & pairing stuck

Hi I just updated my phone (iPhone 6) to 12.0.1 ios and when i wanna pair that with my apple watch it says you have to update your watch software and then when I click on update it says <your apple watch software is up to date 1.0.1> and I can't update my watch and when I click on skip and exit pairing, I can't pair my phone with my watch please help me what should I do? thank you.

From your post, I understand you've updated your iPhone 6 to iOS 12.0.1 and are attempting to pair an Apple Watch. When you do, you're advised to update the Watch, but then are told it is up-to-date with watchOS 1.0.1. I'm happy to help!

While an original Apple Watch cannot update to watchOS 5, it can still update to watchOS 4. If you are on watchOS 1.0.1, you should be able to get an update through the iPhone. Based on what you've described as going on, I'd recommend first using the steps under the "If you can't set up your Apple Watch or you get an error message" section of Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support , as well as reviewing the steps in If your Apple Watch isn't connected or paired with your iPhone - Apple Support .

You may also find that the steps under the "If you need help updating" section of Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support beneficial.
