MacBook speaker to GarageBand input

Can I use my MacBook Pro sound output (speakers) as the input to GarageBand?

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 2 TBT3), macOS High Sierra (10.13.1)

it's not likely to sound very good, but sure.


set GB's prefs to use the internal mic:


User uploaded file


create an audio track, with monitoring _off_


User uploaded file


hit record and then start the app you want playing through your speakers

ah, that's a different story.


no, there is no built-in method to do that, you'd need a third party app like SoundFlower or LoopBack to internally route the audio signal to GB
