Screen replacement water resistance

Does Apple Store screen replacement maintain water resistance more than an authorized outside repair? iPhone 8. The outside authorized repairer wants me to sign that the phone may lose it’s water resistance.

Water resistant xs max If the xs max is supposedly water resistant and it drops into water for 3 seconds and the device goes into immediate disrepair that’s not water resistant .. and then how could it not be covered it seems to me it’s more a mechanism failure. Also does water affect the device quicker after you have had a screen replacement ?

iPhone Xs max water damage seal My iPhone Xs max was recently water damaged. Previously the iPhone had been dropped in a lake for 30 minutes and did not receive any damage at all. I had the earpiece speaker replaced and then my iPhone was splashed and was totally ruined. I was told by a different repair person there is a waterproof seal in the phone and when it was repaired the repairman did not replace the waterproof seal. Is this true? The repairman says he will replace my phone but he wants me to pay for a screen replacement on the broken phone even though it was just water damaged. Can anyone tell me if there is some form of waterproof seal on the original phone?

Anytime the seal on an iPhone is broken, it could reduce it's resistance to water. Regardless, I would personally ONLY let Apple replace the screen on my phone.
