iOS 12.0.1 airbud problems

few problems since this update. First thing I noticed is the airbuds are not as loud. Yes the device volume is up, and the mesh Isn’t clogged so please don’t waste a reply with the “how to clean your earbuds“ post. ALSO before the update I could dou tap the earbud to read incoming messages but now every time I have to unlock my phone? 🏻♂ My phone isn’t set to lock for plen of time

Helpful suggestions but that wasn’t it. It was actually the earwax that seems to work it’s way through the mesh. I was able to correct it by warming the ear buds by wearing them and blowing into the horizontal opening that would be on the inside flat surface (not to be confused with the vertical one on the outside). It takes time but you can see the wax being expelled out the mesh. - on a different note since the update I have also noticed that the Bluetooth connectivity goes out frequently and digitizes the sound even when I’m holding the phone it sounds like I’m walking out of range.- also I noticed now I cannot check incoming messages without being told to unlock my phone When my phone screen goes to sleep

Hello DAVE CHALLANT,

I understand your volume is low for your earbuds after updating to iOS 12.0.1. I am happy to help with this. If you haven't done so already, restart your iPhone.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Check all possibilities try different apps or even phone calls. Go to Settings > Sounds and adjust the volume there.

If you cant hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn't clear on your iPhone - Apple Support

Try the headphones with another device. If they are Bluetooth headphones unpair and then pair again to see if the issue persists.

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the icon next to your AirPods.1 Then tap Forget This Device.
  2. Put your AirPods in the case and close the lid. Wait 15 seconds, then open the lid.
  3. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until you see the status light flash amber a few times, then flash white.
  4. Place your AirPods close to your device. Follow the steps on your iOS device's screen.

Keep us posted.
Cheers!
