Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

Application Compatibility

El Capitan 10.11 Compatibility information

macOS Sierra 10.12: Compatible Apps

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.

Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

Over in your cross-posting in Unable to Reinstall Mac OS X Mavericks, you've also now indicated that you've acquired something claiming to be Mavericks from somewhere, and are now having verification issues.

Some background...

There are no ISOs of this stuff, everything past 10.6 was downloaded from the Mac App Store, with the exception of a few USB sticks very early on. Bootable USB installers are available are usually now created using the createinstallmedia tool or some similar approach, while older OS X versions didn't have that tool and used a manual process. See below.

Download what you need directly from the Mac App Store previous purchases, and Yosemite 10.10 and El Capitan 10.11 are available in the purchase histories of folks that have previously downloaded and used both of those releases. Then use the createinstallmedia tool for newer releases, or the manual process for older releases.

If you don't have those kits in your previous purchase history and if you need El Capitan as your Mac cannot run a more recent release, then you'll either need to contact Apple Support and request a redemption code, or potentially roll in whatever backups are available for the local systems and recover an installation kit from there. Alternatively, Mac systems that cannot run current releases can download and install software directly from Apple, and can then upgrade to the last supported release via the Mac App Store, if it's an old Mac that you have here.

...Or as is typical, install a newer or current macOS release.
