I'm trying to create a new apple id using my gmail id. However, it says that the id is already in use whereas i've not used this gmail id for creation of any other apple id or even as 'reachable' address in my existing apple id which is a mobile number.
How can i create a new apple id?
If you are sure you have never used the address in any other Apple ID, try Apple ID Support.

Or fill out and submit this form. The form is for iTunes, but it will get passed to the ID Support section.

I just realized that i've used part of my gmail id as the username for this profile for asking questions in this community.
Could this be the reason?
If yes, then how can i delete this user profile and will this enable me to use my gmail id as apple id?

Using part of it as your user name for the profile shouldn't affect using the email address as an Apple ID.
