How to remove Chumsearch from Safari

I checked profiles under system preferences and in User and Groups- there is nothing there. There are no extensions, I reset safari step by step. I installed the paid version of Malwarebytes. I installed the paid version of Cleanmymac. Nothing is working. Can someone please help?

How To Remove ChumSearch.com redirect from Mac (macOS Guide)

The free version of MalwareBytes for Mac (from maker site) can remove ChumSearch.

There also is a method not requiring any third party; however that may be problematic.

{The CleanMyMac and associated variants is not recommended for any macOS;

the advice there, would be to try-and-see if you can remove it via uninstaller, etc.}

Haven't encountered the issue so far and try to avoid those sources of the problem.

re: lzlife

PS: another version of 'browser re-direct' malware shows "Bing" search as symptom

of the presence of the badware in your system. ~ Similar yet little different than Chum.

A contributor suggests two additional links if you see 'bing' in addition to 'chum search'

Re: Chrome and Safari replaced by generic "search" broswer and manual removal.

In any event..

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

Did you try those methods shown in linked article that do not require any download?

And follow them exactly for best chance at manual removal. Three steps one can take.

I've both free version MalwareBytes for Mac, and Etrecheck; these run awhile

and then are limited. ~ And they have changed a bit in the past year or so.

Malwarebytes for Mac — Mac Antivirus Replacement | Malwarebytes

Free download (30-day trial) Malwarebytes for Mac | Malwarebytes

Etrecheck - etresoft:

read about it:

However the earlier link - which details 'manual methods' - is valid.
