Brightstar recycling scam

I sent in an old iPad in July - through the recycling program which I trusted since it originated on Apple's site. Was told I could get $45 for my device and was sent an invalid gift card for $45. I've spent hours and had multiple calls to Apple to try to resolve - my most recent was 1 hr 12 minutes long. Noone can answer my question nor appears to not know who I should be speaking with. Feeling so ripped off. Wish I had googled Brightstar before beginning the recycling process.

And this appears to be in the wrong forum - but it's where I was directed when trying to reply to another Brightstar post and it won't let me change it.

I did just try calling Brightstar and they were completely not helpful. He told me I was 'changing my mind' because I pointed out an inconsistency in the fact that they sent me an email with a gift card (that didn't work) and yet their system said my gift card was 'processing'. I've wasted much more than $45 of my time on this so I will let it go. And in the meantime, make sure everyone knows that this recycling program is a scam.
