Hello iban100,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are having an issue when watching videos on your iPad when charging. If you haven't already, please restart your iPad as iOS clears cached data and does other system optimizations when you turn your device off and on.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you're still having this issue, your next step is to reinstall iOS on your device; this will help us isolate the situation further. Reinstalling iOS should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud.

Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Once you have a current backup, follow the steps from the "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" section in this article:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen

Use the “Update” option and not “Restore” and these steps will reinstall iOS. Keep in mind that these steps were written for a different issue, but they will still help us isolate the situation further.

Cheers!

Thanks for replying, iban100, and that additional info, it really helps! Next, use iTunes on your Mac or PC to backup and restore your iOS software to factory settings, as this process erases the information and settings on your device and installs a fresh copy of the latest iOS software. Temporarily set up your phone as new to test your issues, and then restore your back up and test the issues again.

I have the same issue on my 5th Gen. iPad (iOS 12.0.1) as that described above by iban100. The audio lags behind video, anywhere from a half-second to over a second. For me, the problem is most noticeable in YouTube (both the iOS app and using it in the Safari, Chrome and Edge browser iOS apps), where the audio is generally a full second behind the video.

The audio lag in the VLC Streamer app is quite short by comparison to YouTube, but still present.

This problem does not exist on my iPhone 6 Plus (also iOS 12.0.1) at all. I have checked the same videos on YouTube on different browsers on my desktop as well; there is no lag. This seems to be squarely a problem with the iPad.
