Recurring 'System Extension Blocked' popup since upgrading to Mojave, but there's nothing to allow

Ever since upgrading to Mojave I'm getting a popup every hour or so telling me that a system extension was blocked and I need to enable extensions from Dell Encryption Enterprise and developer Benjamin Fleischer.

But when I got to System Preferences > Security & Privacy there is nothing for me to click "Allow" on in the 'General' tab. Even if I go to 'Privacy' I have enabled every app to have access to everything it wants.

I also have no idea where Dell Encryption Enterprise is coming from. I don't have that program on my machine so I assume another program is using that for something? Is there a specific program that I just need to uninstall at this point? Are there any patches coming for this?

Hello, ryana84.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It's my understanding that you're getting a pop-up asking you to turn on an extension from Dell Encryption Enterprise. I'd like to help you with this. You can check out more information from Dell's website about this: What is Dell Data Protection Encryption\Dell Encryption? Typically this software is added in by a System Administrator. I'd recommend reaching out to Dell on the steps to remove this from your MacBook.

I hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hey i_rina, thanks for jumping in!

Maybe my situation wasn't fully clear, so I've included some screenshots below. I am getting a macOS popup telling me I need to allow a system extension

However, when I go to 'Security & Privacy' there is no system extension listed for me to allow.

Even when I click over to the 'Privacy' tab every app requesting control of 'Location Services,' 'Contacts,' 'Microphone,' 'Accessibility', and 'Automation' shows as enabled. So I keep getting a popup from macOS about needing to enable an extension, but there is nothing in the macOS Security & Privacy settings that is not already enabled.

I installed the Dell Encryption client myself to access an encrypted external drive (it never worked btw). So I could be certain that I do not actually need the Dell Encryption service. If you have an administrator, be sure to check if your organization requires this for disk encryption.

I ran

ps -ef | grep Dell

from the terminal and found 3 apps in /Library/Dell/EMS/ that were running. I used Finder to go to the /Library/ folder and dragged the whole Dell folder to the trash. I restarted the machine, and I no longer get that popup. Looks like a successful un-install for me.
