Binoculars on Mac lock screen?

I rarely use the lock screen on my Mac, so when I saw the icon on the left I was a bit scared:

Does anybody know what this icon means? Is it a normal thing? Is it caused by Apple software, or some possibly malicious third-party software?

MacBook Air, macOS Mojave (10.14)

No... Though I talked with support for a few days on the Apple Watch issue. I was talking to a support rep and he was forwarding our discussion and diagnostics to an engineer. They even called back a few times to check some settings and offered some suggestions.

They were very thorough, but ultimately they didn't have an answer for either issue. He said that engineering was aware of the Apple Watch issue as others had also reported it, but didn't have any information about when a fix was going to be released.

When I showed my tech what the binoculars looked like, he said he wasn't familiar with it. I mentioned that others suggested it had something to do with Remote Desktop and he agreed it seemed similar, but it wasn't an icon he recognised. Plus, we had just gone through to double check that all Remote Desktop and Remote Management was turned off.

Sorry... no news. but I thought I'd go ahead and update everyone following this.
