USB SuperDrive icon not showing up on my desktop

I'm trying to set up my Apple SuperDrivem, but the icon is not showing up on my iMac desktop

Assuming that you've inserted a disc in the Super drive, pull down the Finder menu and check your Finder preferences to make sure that you've set 'External disks' to be displayed on the desktop as shown below.
