Historically, wrapping text around images in Keynote worked as easily as in Pages. In latest Keynote v8 the image overlays the text without having the text wrap around it. The Help tab suggests this is automatic and works, but it does not work for me. I'm using Keynote v8.2 in OS Mojave v10.14.

Thanks for clarifying what you are trying to do. This is my workaround for a lack of a dedicated text wrap tool, its based on a Photoshop technique for masking:
Text wrap in Keynote
1 - place a rectangle shape on the slide and size it appropriately to hold the text
2 - place the image file on the slide and position it where required:
3 - add a second rectangle shape and size and position it exactly on top of the image
4 - select both shapes using; shift click
5 - Format > Shapes and Lines > Subtract
a hole is cut on the first shape to create a mask, revealing the image:
6 - double click on the large shape to select the text tool, then type or paste in text on to the shape
7 - format the text and colour the shape:

Thanks for such a rapid response. I may well have been mistaken about my prior experiences. I've not had a reason to use Keynote for more than a simple slide or three for the past two plus years, so I may have confused my experience with my work in Pages. Besides doing all of my writing in Pages, I also do all of my publishing work with it as well (business plans and the like). Through the years, I've had experience with virtually all of the Mac publishing apps, and when Pages came along I switched for good, because of its output and its ease of use to get there. All of that to say that in retrospect I guess I'm really suggesting that Apple should in fact make the wrapping capability standard in Keynote as well. They obviously have the technology :-)

Jeez, Gary. I didn't expect this. Thank you very much. A very elegant solution. I have to study it a bit more to embed it in my feeble brain, but it definitely looks like a winner to me.
Before I even received your first response, I worked up my own kludged solution by directing the text into two boxes and then placing it in concert with the image, so it all worked out. Again, I do believe I will prefer yours, because it enables a variety of options not available to me in my version.
Thanks, again. I do still wonder why Apple does not integrate the Pages tool into Keynote to make life easier for all of us, i.e., the Steve Jobs Way. Keynote was created specifically to simplify what had grown quite grotesquely and unnecessarily complex with PowerPoint. I can make claim to having once owned one of the original Owner's Manuals for PowerPoint, when it was developed exclusively for the Mac, along with Excel and Word! It was a hard bound book!!! I continue to kick myself for somehow letting it get out of my hands along the many moves I made around the country.

That is correct, there is no tool in Keynote that will wrap text around an image.
The Help tab suggests this is automatic and works, but it does not work for me.
Keynote Help version 8.x does not give any advice on how to perform text wrap.
Please provide a screen grab or a link to a webpage that shows how this is done in any version of Keynote as this will interest many users.
