One minute after starting my new airport extreme, the fan starts and never stops, and it sounds almost like a vaccum cleaner! Is the fan supposed to operate all the time? And should it sound so high? I sometimes get a message rightaway that "your item might be overheated" and it cant be overheated after already a couple of minutes.
The AirPort Extreme is defective. Take it back and get a replacement.
The fan.....which runs continuously at all times......is inaudible in normal operation. If you can hear the fan....something is wrong.
Apple still has avialable stock of the AirPort Extreme if you are interested.
Thanks. Sadly it was the last item in the shop. But I still wonder, is the fan supposed to start occasionally during normal circumstances, or just in extreme situations? Couldnt stand the sound in the long run, so if its common that the fan starts I wont try to get another airport extreme.
Thanks again. But I live in Sweden, and they don´t seem to have any left here, so I guess I have to try another brand.
