Graphics printing blocky after upgrade to Mojave

I have Mojave installed on two machines: a late 2013 iMac and a mid-2018 MacBook Pro. I have an Oki c351dn printer. When I print, any graphics come out completely blocky as if they have been printed at screen resolution or worse. Text is fine. This happens if I use the Oki driver or the Generic PS driver.

I also have an early 2015 MacBook which is still running High Sierra. If I print from this, everything is fine.

I have tried resetting the printing system and doing a factory reset on the printer.

Postscript should be Postscript, right? The OS shouldn't make a difference.

I guess the only thing I did different was to install the stand alone driver first (C530_C330_CCU_OSX_020102_31460), I thought this would be the correct driver but it did not solve the issue. Reboot of course, still no go. Next day I then read the file OS_MacOS 10.14_OKI MacOS Compatibility List_1.1 and it says for my printer I need the driver updater. OKI PS Printer Driver Updater OSX10.9_010001_35445 so I installed and rebooted and it works.

Hope this helps. BTW the compatibility list also has a couple tips on uninstall methods as well as what printers are supported. Hopefully yours is on the list.

Having the same issue with our OKI C841dn:

— Blocked images when printing from Preview, Mail or Word.

— No issues when printing from Adobe Acrobat or other Adobe applications.

Just removed the printers, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver: didn't resolve the issue.

Then updated the driver "OKI PS Printer Driver Updater OSX10.9_010001_35445"; still same problem.

I have tried this on two macs in our network with identical results. Very disappointing!

If anyone has other tips besides the driver update and printing from Acrobat, I'd love to hear them. This is causing frustration and many useless, wasted prints.

Yes it was on the list and i tried their latest driver from OKI on my imac and macbook with no luck. Your right i can't see why i have a problem but after all day trying different options it was the last resort. Also updated Mojave to the latest 10.14.3 with no change.

OKI seam to have two versions of their driver, a 1.1.1 and 2.1.3 (MC363 and MC362). Originally I had 1.1.1 on one machine and 2.1.3 on the other and re installed new copies (plus tried a few older versions) on each did not fix the problem. I did get a generic PCL driver to work but only in black and white (colour not supported).

Best of luck with you ES5462 problem, hopefully someone has another solution with the OKI drivers as i would prefer that option. I will have another go with the latest OKI driver and PS driver updater and see if I can get it to work.

GUYS!

Huge news, although this **** printer is gonna give me a heart attack sooner or later.

I tried to update the firmware, but for some reason I couldn't manage to do so via my Mac.

So I borrowed a windows PC and did the whole procedure. Once it's 100% done, the printer reboots and then (here comes the heart attack) I got the "error while updating the firmware, please contact customer service" (or something).

Scared and angry I did the only thing that crossed my mind at that moment: turn off and turn on the printer.

And there it is, my ES5462 printing my documents with graphics like it used to do before i updated to Mojave.

So please try to update the firmware, apparently that solves the problem.

We've been having the blocky graphics problem with a C351. I tried their latest driver & updater (2-3 weeks back) with limited success. Others have reported success with a firmware update, but when I checked OKI's site today (17 Feb 2019), I found that the C351 does not have updatable firmware. However, I noticed that they have put up a new PS driver updater that specifically claims to fix distorted printing with Mojave. I tried updating a mac pro (late 2013). At first there was no change so I deleted & recreated the printer & restarted the mac mac. Worked great! Did the same thing with two MacBook pros & they were also fixed now. Sorry, don't know if the deletion & recreation of the printers is necessary, but restarting the mac definitely is necessary. I'm happy now & recommend that everyone apply this new updater if they are having mojave printing problems with the c531. Cheers all.

After having problems updating my MC362 firmware (not discoverable) i tried Crljenak_K solution with the latest driver MC562-PS-MX-DRV-213_31115  (2.1.3.0), and used the update driver OSX_010100_243242. All fixed at last!

Procedure:

Install the driver MC562-PS-MX-DRV-213_31115

created the printer

Install the update driver OSX_010100_243242

Did a test print and still had the problem.

Restart

Delete and re create printer

Test print and all fixed!

Thanks Crljenak_K and Andypvw.

I am also having the same problem with a Dell E525w laser printer. I can't print from the internet, or from pages, or from e-mail. If I do the text is fine but the graphics are blocky. I tried to print a fedex shipping label and couldn't. I work around this by taking a screen shot and printing that. For some reason that will work okay. I tried updating the Dell printer software but apparently it is not up to speed with Apple. Very frustrating, but at least I can print a screen shot.
