iPhone XS Max Freezing up

iPhone XS Max is Freezing up. I went to the only apple store near me 45 minutes away and they hard reset the phone, however, the minute I pulled into my drive way it happened again. It goes to a black screen and has a circle in the middle like its trying to come back but stays that way for hours unless it’s hard reset. While it’s like this I’m still able to make phone calls and text through the Iwatch. I don’t think is any apps I’ve downloaded causing this since it just started doing this after 16 days of me owning the device and the apps are the same as the ones I had on my iPhone 7 Plus. I’ve not dropped the phone and I have taken excellent care of it, obviously because it’s soo EXPENSIVE. I hope this helps and Apple sends out a new update soon.

I had the same problem, went back to apple store and they exchanged the phone

The next day the same problem started with new phone, froze twice and the only way was to hard reboot it

Tended to freeze when I was using google maps navigation. Guy at the apple store says use our Maps instead. And few hours later it froze already in Maps application

Looks like this product is full of bugs, thinking of returning it alltoge

iPhone XS Max, 512 Gig, only 2 weeks old

It also froze on me. No warning; just froze.


  1. I was riding as passenger in a car
  2. Only had a few apps open; cellular was on
  3. I was NOT making any phone calls or sending texts
  4. Just looking at different things on the iPhone, seeing how apps worked
  5. Suddenly froze, and I could not do a thing with it
  6. homescreen froze
  7. could not swipe to different screens - nothing
  8. could not open any apps - completely frozen
  9. could NOT even turn iPhone on or off; could not force quit it either
  10. Had to just wait about 40 minutes, and then I was able to restart


Trying to decide if I should take it back to Apple before Jan 8th and get different phone.

But, now, that I read these posts, I see the freezing is a problem across the board.

I wonder if a software patch would fix it?

Did you ever get this resolved? I just bought an XS Max before Christmas and had same problem.

Freezes and cannot even turn it on or off.


I'm wondering if anyone in this thread ever got a satisfactory answer.

Has Apple addressed this issue?

I can see its a problem the phone is having because of so many posts.

Any resolutions to the problem or fixes?

It's amazing that Apple monitors this support site and doesn't offer a word of support. This product costs in excess of $1000 and Apple acts like they are above the dialog - why would we stoop down and attempt to assist the very people that keep us in business? It's obvious from the comments you people are totally Apple crazy and no matter how badly they screw us you don't seem to care. Wake up.
