Messages App hangs or crashes after Mojave upgrade

I've been all over the forums trying everybody's fix for this, but after upgrading to Mojave yesterday, my Messages app constantly hangs and/or crashes. If I am able to get it to run and stay open, it's constantly drawing on the resources of my Macbook Pro 2015

✅ Restarted into SafeMode and had the same problem

✅ Restarted and reset memory (COM + OPTION + P + R)

✅ Signed out of iMessages account, restarted and signed back in

✅ Changed setting to delete messages older than 1 year

I can't find any other solutions online, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

After reading Albador's post, I'm waiting to see if the 10.14.4 update takes care of the problem. Sounds like it might be the case.

My understanding is that the "Automatic Graphics Switching" option is only found in MBPs that have a dual GPU. So apparently, it does not apply to your machine.

Nor is it found in my 2018 Mac Mini, or any other desktop for that matter.

Yup. I have the same problem after upgrading to Mojave 10.14.3. Every time I load Messages, whole computer hangs for 5-15 seconds.

As far as I can tell, this has been resolved in Mac OS 10.14.4

I had a couple of different Macs with this problem and after updating the issue is gone.

I am still having the hang up. If anything, it's a longer wait. I have a 2014 MacBook Pro running version 10.14.4 Mojave.

Okay. It is your call. But be aware of the fact that doing that will wipe out whatever you currently have in the Messages app.

Same issue. Also, refuse to delete my entire chat history. That's saved on purpose. Same issue on mbp and imac. Obviously points to 14.4 error. Very frustrating.
