iPod Classic 160 GB - New HDD or SSD?

I have a iPod Classic 160 than needs a new HDD. I realize they quit making the 160GB HDDs, but I don't need quite that much storage. I understand there is an option to replace the mechanical HDD with a SSD drive, which would make it more shock resistant, and increase battery life. Has anyone had this done? I heard there was some kind of issue formatting SSDs to FAT32, which I believe is the format the iPods use. Also, I'm using it with a PC, if that makes a difference.

If this is a good alternative, is there a reasonably priced online shop that's good at this?

Thanks!
