Terry,

Thank you for the clarification.

Starting with OS X El Capitan and continuing with later versions of macOS, Apple introduced System Integrity Protection (SIP) to protect your Mac from malicious software. This prevents deleting of pre-installed apps, like Grapher. You can take a look at the following support article for more information on SIP:

Cheers.

Hello Terry,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

If you're trying to delete an equation from the Grapher application on your Mac, then please follow the instructions below from the Grapher help:

Delete an equation: Select the equation in the equations list, then press the Delete key.

Create a graph and add equations in Grapher on Mac

If this isn't what you're trying to do, then please reply back with further details on what you're trying to accomplish in Grapher.

Take care.

Thanks for trying to answer my question, but I want to get rid of the grapher application entirely. I never use it but frequently it interferes with the opening of video files on my MacbookPro. And since I edit videos constantly, it has become a real problem. Every time it blocks me from opening a video file, I have to restart the computer. And when I try to delete grapher, I get a message saying that the operating system requires me to have it.
