can't update safari because of an extension used by search.

safari needs me to update but it says it cant because an extension in Safari is being used by the search function. I can not find what that extension may be. Help!

Try restarting the computer. If that doesn't work, go to Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor, select the Spotlight process, and force quit it by clicking the X at the top left.
