lexmark printer problem with ibook g4

i have used a lexmark p4350 for nearly a year with my ibook g4 but recently had a problem. so like a fool i uninstalled the printer and its software and decided to re-install it again. now when i put the software cd into the drive i hear the whirring noise and the box opens but it will not install with or without the software. on preferences i try to add printer but nothing happens when i click on the + sign. what should i do? im getting a bit desparate because i have a couple of documents needed within a few days. any ideas will be welcome.
