Question

iMovie - 1080p Export Not Available

I'm trying to create simple slide shows of images with simple zooms and transitions. The source images are all larger than 1920px x 1080px.

I have tried the various workarounds without success. I have also deleted preferences and started from scratch.

If I start a project, insert a 1080p clip then try to export a file I have an option to select 1080p 60fps.

If I then start adding images, keeping the 1080p clip in the project, I no longer have the option to select 1080p.

If I then start adding images, deleting the 1080p clip in the project, I no longer have the option to select 1080p.

On Mojave and 10.1.9... only updated as had same problem on previous operating system.

iMac, macOS Mojave (10.14)

Hi, christopher,

Deleting preferences often cures export problems. Try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. See if your projects will share out properly.

If you have another project that has worked successfully, duplicate it, delete the media in the duplicate, and add in your new clips. See if it works properly.

Sorry, I overlooked that you already had tried deleting preferences.

Since iMovie is not functioning correctly, you might try doing a redownload of iMovie.

Try exporting at whatever option you have and see if you get satisfactory results.

Thanks.... need 1080p files for various things so a 720p export would mean I need to res-up using something else. Not the best quality outcome. Will see if Adobe has something that's not too complicated.

No luck with the redownload. The software has essentially become useless to me so will have to see what else might be out there.
