Can I have a windows 10 particion on my 2012 Macbook pro?

I am looking to run both the mac OS and Windows OS in two seperate particions through dual booting. The laptop has been fitted with a 500gb ssd. When I attempt this through bootcamp it seems to only allow for windows 7 or later, can I change this? Would partitioning my hard drive and booting with a windows install usb work, drivers and all?

Very basic computer understanding. Feedback appreciated.
