The mouse is model A1296 and the computer is early 2015 MacBook Pro with retina display, 13 inch. I recently upgraded to Mac OS Mojave. Other Bluetooth accessories seem to work with out losing connection.

Did you try to delete com.apple.Bluetooth.plist which is located /Library/Preferences and restart MacBook Pro?
Are you sure you trashed the file named "com.apple.Bluetooth.plist" from the /Library/preferences folder not from the ~/Library/preferences one (in your home folder) ?
Normally there isn't a file with that exact name in the ~/Library/preferences folder or it's from a previous macOS version maybe.
If you trash it and reboot, you'll have a fresh one and you'll have to connect your bluetooth devices again to your Mac.
Anyway, I have the same issue with my Magic Mouse 1 and neither resetting the bluetooth module nor any of the other options nor trashing this file worked.
My mouse keeps connecting/disconnecting when my Mac on Mojave is more than 3 meters away.
It may be a problem with the mouse not Mojave. But I didn't have that problem a couple of months ago with my old 2007 MBP on El Capitan tough...

I assume your mouse is something wrong, though it's worth trying reset Bluetooth module of your MacBook Pro.

Thanks for your response. I did reset the Bluetooth, deleted the mouse, restarted the computer, fresh batteries in the mouse. Still looses connection. Would Mojave have anything to do with losing connection?
How do I do that. When I highlight com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and press delete nothing happens.
Well when to trash this file it should ask for an admin password.
Did you just try to put it manually in the trash instead ?
I did move it to the trash but it did not ask for an administrative password so I moved it back to the library.

I tested my old 2007 MBP with El Capitan today, and I don't have this issue with my mouse...
So it's definitely Mojave for me.
I read on this site that a lot of persons have a bluetooth range reduction after updating to tvOS 12 for their Apple TV.
Maybe it's the same kind of problem (range, strength, interferences management or something else) we're experiencing with the bluetooth driver in Mojave ?
