iTunes on Mojave keeps resetting default backup location to iCloud

I have recently updated to Mac Mojave on 15" Retina MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

In iTunes (12.9.0), when backing up the iPhone X, it automatically keeps resetting the default to back up to 'iCloud'.

I keep changing it to 'My Computer', but it keeps resetting it as above. Oh, and on the iPhone X, backup to iCloud is switched off!

How do I keep it at the setting I desire?

With iTunes closed make backup copies of the following, unless you have Time Machine:

/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist

/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist.<random>

/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.iTunes.<GUID>.plist

/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.iTunes.<GUID>.plist.<random>

then delete them and empty trash. Now launch iTunes. This should force iTunes to recreate its preference files which will now hopefully retain your settings.
