How to receive scan on MacOS from network MFU like Canon imageRunner or Kyocera Taskalfa?

Hi!

I looking for buy a network color laser MFU with print/scan/copy functions (variants are Kyocera Taskalfa 2552ci, Canon image Runner ADVANCE C3520i, Konica Minolta bizhun C227 and others).

The main problem is how to receive scans from such MFU's on several MacBooks.

Scan to email not suitable, because of big size of scan, scan to USB not useful because of 21 century 😉, scan to FTP/SMB require open ports on firewall, store my account's password in MFU. Not best, as for me.

What is the best way to scan docs from network MFU to MacBook?

Those are the only ways to receive automated/front panel scans, you'll need to pick one.

Most people have their device connect to their Mac over the network, which will require you to allow File Sharing connections in Security -> Firewall -> Firewall Options.

If you're not willing to do that, a USB stick is the next best way.

If you're talking about single scans, you can manually scan a document using Preview.

Looks like USB is old style, but useful.

I can't understand it, really. 21century, a lot of producers, all around are in networks, clouds etc. And still NO ONE producer made simplest method - run on Mac simple app, walk to MFU, press Scan-to-this-running-app. I think its due to Mac's restrictions, may be. Idea is so simple: app create network listener (for example, 11123/tcp or udp), MFU sent scan to it...
