how to add orbi

Seems like you really have a question for Orbi support, since you will not be making any changes at all to the Time Capsule, but here are a few tips to get you started.

1) Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the three LAN <--> Ethernet ports on the back of the Time Capsule to the WAN port on the "main" Orbi router. This connection must be permanently maintained.

2) Since the Orbi system will be extending the Time Capsule network, it would make no sense to locate the main Orbi router in the same room as the Time Capsule. Locate the main Orbi router at least a room or two away from the Time Capsule.

3) Configure the main Orbi router to produce a WiFi network that uses the exact same wireless network name and password that the Time Capsule is providing at the present time.

4) Follow the setup instructions provided by Orbi to set up the remainder of the Orbi system. Please contact Orbi support if you need more help with the setup, since we unfortunately cannot provide support for Orbi products on an Apple support forum for the Time Capsule.

I believe the Orbi system does not currently support bridging the mesh satellite nodes via Ethernet, and thus, you could not use your Time Capsule to extend the Orbi's mesh network in this manner. As Bob has mentioned, you will need to contact Netgear for assistance with this or answer your setup questions.

Orbi does now support Ethernet connections between the Orbi satellites and "main" router, so for best performance, you would want to go that route. This Orbi support document confirms that information.

Otherwise, I was assuming that the Orbi "satellites" would connect to the "main" Orbi router using a wireless connection, which would the normal way that the Orbi system is set up with most users.

It is important to understand though, that the "main" Orbi router must connect to the Time Capsule using a permanent, wired Ethernet cable, no matter how you set up the rest of the Orbi system.
