iTunes no longer sees my iPhone 6X

As plain as it sounds. My iTunes 12.8.0.150 cannot see my iPhone 6X anymore. iPod (which is slightly outdated)? No problem.

This wasn't an issue for the longest time, until about a week ago when I noticed. For the record, I don't necessarily NEED to sync with iTunes right now, but I certainly do NOT want to have any technical issues with products that should work fine.

For the record, my iPod model is MD749LL/A (iOS is 9.3.5), and the machine is a mid 2012 MBPro (with USB3). iPhone has the latest iOS.

Download the current 12.8 installer for iTunes from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.

Unlock your iOS device and connect it to USB.

Reinstall iTunes from the .dmg that you've downloaded.

During the installation it should announce that a further software update is required.

Install that and iTunes should see your device.
