12.8 Itunes not responding to Ipod

I updated my MAC to the 12.8 versions of ITunes today and since then it will not recognize that my IPod is connected via cord. Everything was working fine before I updated ITunes and I've done all the steps listed on the list to help resolve the issue. Different cords, restarting the MAC and IPod, changing ports, ect.

Everything is up to date on all devices and all the other apps that automatically open when my IPod is plugged in are popping up, its just ITunes.

Download the current 12.8 installer for iTunes from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.

Unlock your iOS device and connect it to USB.

Reinstall iTunes from the .dmg that you've downloaded.

During the installation it should announce that a further software update is required.

Install that and iTunes should see your devices.
