Is it possible to use one persons fingerprint for Touch ID in multiple accounts on the MacBook Pro?

I created a new user account on my MacBook Pro. The original account accepts my fingerprints. The new account does not. I get a message that says "Unable to complete Touch ID enrollment. Please go back and try again." I have tried several fingers, and deleted the fingerprints from my original account. I rest my PRAM and SMC. I can still add fingerprints to the old account, but the new one continues to not not accept fingerprints.

Eventually found a solution here. It is necessary to delete the Touch Bar data by booting into Recovery Mode, opening a terminal, and keying in xartutil --erase-all.
