Iphone 7 model A1778 "No Service" Issue ?

Why is Iphone 7 model A1778 not covered by Repair Program for "No Service" Issue ? I have gone through Apple Store tech, done all upgrades and erase, re-settings etc. but phone only tells me "No Service" or searching. Apple is admitting to a failed component in the main logic board for Iphone 7 and repairing for free, but only models A1660, A1780 and A1779. The store refused to take mine in for repair.........

iPhone 7, iOS 12.0.1, Model A 1778

Because your phone does not have the qualcomm modem system which is the part that fails. Keep in mind that there are over 20 PAGES of schematics that govern the action of making and receiving radio signals in the phone, and any component failure in this system can make your phone receive "no service" The Apple recall recognizes a very specific design flaw where the qualcomm baseband power management chip is on a bendy part of the logic board near the SIM tray. Over time, repeated "jumping on the diving board" pulls up the pads under this chip with a similar mechanism to all the other flexion-based defects that plague iPhones. In the case of the qualcomm power management chip, the consequence is electrical destruction of the qualcomm baseband CPU--the brain of the cell service system. This is a very specific failure and your phone is not covered simply because it does not have those chips.

The chips that you do have--the Intel modem system--are not the same size and position. They are not affected by flexion of the logic board.

Any device can have a failure that results in searching no service. But in reality, those are super rare in the iPhone 7 A1778. What Apple is doing is saying "we recognize that there is a design flaw in the way we put the qualcomm chips on the board in the iPhone 7" That does not mean that any searching no service problem on the completely unrelated iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6+, 6s, 6sp, intel version 7, etc is related in any way to the very specific problem of the qualcomm chip position. You don't have qualcomm chips. If you want someone to look into WHY your phone is searching no service, then you can certainly go seek someone who would take that repair. (I wouldn't, because it is way too open-ended with too many possible failure points compared to pretty much any other problem). But that doesn't mean that you can't find someone to help you. It just won't be Apple unless you want to just turn in your phone, pay the replacement fee which I think is around $300 and get a refurbished iPhone 7. Your phone doesn't have qualcomm chips. It couldn't possibly fail in the same signature way that all the A1660's fail.

Thank you for a thorough reply. However, it does not solve the problem on my phone which seems very similar/identical to the 'Qualcomm modem" challenge. Any thoughts ? Fact is:

- Phone does not have connection to the mobile carrier (AT&T) and shows 'No service' or 'Searching'

- When erasing/rebooting the phone sometimes gets connected to mobile carrier for brief periods

- Phone occasionally restarts itself and reappears with same issue.

- Wifi is operating

- Phone was purchased in December 2017

- Apple refuse to take phone in for repair.......

Hope some can help.
