Macbook Pro 15" 2018 freezes browsing Google Map.

I have a Macbook Pro 15 inch (2018) running High Sierra 10.13.6. Occasionally when browsing Google Map in Safari, especially when applying the mouse too fast, the system totally freezes. So far, I have not experienced the same issue when using Chrome browser, although I have to admit that I don't use Chrome as extensively as Safari. Anybody else experiencing the same issue?

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6), 2.6 GHz i7, 16 GB RAM

Go to Safari Preferences/Extensions and turn all extensions off. Test. If okay, turn the extensions on one by one until you figure out what extension is causing the problem.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Latest update. Apple came out with Safari update version 12.0.2 and MacOs Security Update 2018.003 for High Sierra on Dec 5, 2018. (I am still on High Sierra). And with these updates, so far so good, Safari can handle Google Map in a more stable manner. Let's see how long before it freezes...if it ever does.

Maybe I am misunderstanding your post, but trying in the Safe Mode is a temporary test. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things.

I had the MacOS High Sierra restored (clean installed) by Apple Centre, and had the OS and Safari updated (not Mojave yet). Played around the computer for a few days and had deferred installing any "heavy" third party softwares for the time being. I had no modifications, even in my hosts file.

Google Map FROZE again in Safari and freezing the entire system. This time, the computer re-booted itself. I have made my conclusion that there is a problem with Safari + Google Map + MacBook Pro 15" 2018. I have now re-installed Google Chrome and will use it for Google Map and see if the same problem is duplicated in this combination. Someday, I will update to Mojave.

As I said, I never had the problem with the relatively ancient MacBook Air 11" (2012) i7.

Did you try using Safari in another admin account? Did you try the Safe Mode?

My Safari extensions is blank. I have nothing installed. When the system freezes, it freezes. Nothing to show or print screen. Only option available is to press and hold the power button to restart the computer.

Might try another admin account later. Safe Mode will not give a solution to me...I might as well continue using Google Chrome whenever I need to use Google Map, until it decides to act on me like Safari. Interestingly, I have not experienced the freeze on my old 2012 Macbook Air 11" i7 8GB RAM also running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6. I also have similar apps, setups, etc. installed on that machine.

Believe it or not...after installing new security update for High Sierra10.13.6 and Safari 12.0.1, my Macbook Pro refused to boot. Even in Safe Mode, the screen just got stuck with the Apple logo. Maybe something to do with me ignoring to allow accessibility to Dropbox (I didn't know what to do when it popped up...I just closed the pop-up window). I guess I might as well ask Apple Service Center to clean install MacOS Mojave 10.14.
