Can't open Books application at all

I rarely use the Books app on my Macbook Pro, but a couple of weeks ago I needed to and the application crashes on open each and every time. It will not open at all. Any assistance is appreciated.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB memory

Apple Books keeps crashing I have an early 2015 MacBook Air, with OS 10.14.1. Using my account Books crashes after about a second. an error report opens up. Clicking Reopen results in the app opening and crashing again. Books still crashes with the MacBook in Safe Mode. Opening Books under the MacBook Guest account is OK, and I am able to open a test PDF without crashing. I conclude that the Books App under my account has a corrupt library file. Trouble is that I am unable to open Books long enough to clear the library or diagnose the problem. Any suggestions as to how I can overcome this problem?

Apple Books App Crashing The Apple Books application on my 2018 MacBook Pro running fully up-to-date macOS Mojave is crashing when I open a certain book. The book happens to be the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book 17th Ed. The book was just released a few weeks ago. I'm not sure the book matters. So far, I've deleted and reinstalled the book with the same result. All other books are working properly.

kindle app crashes every time opened on os x11.1 (Catalina) Does anyone know of a fix? I downloaded the kindle app again and installed it. No help. Interestingly every time I open a book in the app and I reopen after the inevitable crash there is a new blank book with nothing in it and nothing on the cover. I am at the point where I am not going to even try to use the app any more on my mac.
