recent files folder classifies all files to be "other" when finder is first open

Hi,

Both of my macs have strange behavior after I upgraded to Mojave: the finder recent files folder will show every file under "others" instead of classifying them accordingly to the right type. This only happens when the recent files folder is first to open after login. It will sort the files if I switch to other folders and go back.

Does anyone know what the problem is?
