Highest resolution of a late 2012 Mac mini?

Your original post states that 1080p is as much as you can get, is that not correct?: What resolution are you getting if not 1080p?

1080p is what your monitor supports. 1080p is the short name for 1920x1080. Your monitor does not support anything above this.

The Mac mini can and will provide higher resolutions if a monitor that supports them is connected to it. Your monitor cannot support the 1920x1200 or 2560x1600 resolutions. Only the 1080p or 1920x1080 as per its own specifications.

Have you looked up the specs for your monitor and see if it supports other resolutions? Some of the older ones, especially Windows monitors didn't.

According to the manufacturers specs I would say 1920 X1080 is all that you can get. Usually they will list the other resolutions available. You could try SwitchResX and see if other resolutions are available but I don't like the app.

What make and model monitor do you have?

OK, I think I understand now. 1600 X 2000 is all you can get, but 1920 X1080 0r 1080p is what you want. Have you tried a different(Hi-Speed) HDMI cable?

Certainly, the 2012 Mini supports it.
