Well I'll just sit by and wait then. No way I'll reinstall the os cleaned to get this in. Mojave is around the corner regardless so it's kind of pointless.

It worked. Reinstalling 10.13.6 from the link that Apple Support emailed to me has solved the problem. Unfprtunately I do not seem to be able to copy the active link here.

Well, it sort of worked. A couple of days later I got an update message for 2018-002 even though it was supposed already in 10.13.6. But this time it installed correctly.
So it hasn't improved yet? isn't .1 out? Christ... I am not touching it until I hear it's better.
Are you talking about Mojave? This is referring to the security update in High Sierra.
This update is for High Sierra. I and the OP tried Mojave without much luck.
I should add its a Mac Mini with two monitors.
Yeah it was a side track and mentioned a few times.
I had same issue with 2018-003 High Sierra update. Downloading the file and installing manually worked for that too. Thanks!
