How do I unlock passwords for Safari?

My correct password is not being accepted in the Safari preferences page that says "Passwords Are Locked" Passwords are not being automatically filled in to websites like they used to be. Any suggestions??

Are you using your user password (not Apple ID) to unlock the preferences? Once unlocked, make sure AutoFill user names and passwords is checked.
