How to uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader DC from Mac Mojave?

I have Mac Mini

Processor: 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Storage Capacity 499.9 GB available

OS: Mojave v. 10.14

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC continuous release

Problem: it turns everything I open into Adobe Acrobat Reader docs, and I can no longer edit them. It stores them - it appears - in the cloud, destroying my document filing system. It appears that it has converted documents that I have not even opened. I want it removed, and I hope I will be able to use my documents again, edit them again. If not, at least I'd like this monster stopped.

I'm afraid to try to remove it, as I've seen reports of other versions being removed and running into more problems and I'm not advanced in this sort of thing.
