Empty gray signal bars, can't make calls though 4G works fine.

User uploaded fileHello everyone,

In the last two days i have been suffering from a very weird problem in my iPhone 6s which i have been using for over 2 years now without any big issue.

The problem is that the operator name is shown, 4G/3G works and i can use the internet, but the signal is empty gray bars, and i can not make/receive calls/messages. and from time to time it suddenly shows no service then tells me something like "if the problem persists, call your operator", though i called them obviously and they showed me that it wasn't their problem, it is kinda logic because otherwise the 4G won't work.

Something tells me that it is a software bug, apple please fix this soon, please!!!

Hi Safiy Errahmane,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I see you're having an issue with intermittent "No Service" on your iPhone.

Just to double-check, it sounds like you can use your cellular data to access the internet, but you're seeing a "No Service" message and can't text or make/receive calls. Is that correct?

Contacting your carrier was a good start. There are some great troubleshooting steps here that should help If you see No Service or Searching on your iPhone or iPad :

Restart your iPhone or iPad

Restart your device. If you're not sure how to do this, follow these steps.

Check for a Carrier Settings update

To manually check for and install a carrier settings update:

  1. Make sure that your device is connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
  2. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, you'll see an option to update your carrier settings.
  3. To see the version of carrier settings on your device, tap Settings > General > About and look next to Carrier.

If you insert a new SIM card into your iPhone or iPad, you need to download the carrier settings for your new carrier.

Take out the SIM card and put it back in

If the SIM card is damaged, or doesn't fit in the SIM tray, contact your carrier. Learn more about removing your SIM card.

Reset your Network Settings.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

Update your iPhone or iPad

Update your iPhone or iPad to the latest version of iOS.

I hope these steps help to clear things up for you.

Warm regards.
