Files not showing on desktop - iMac pro

I just bought my iMac pro a week ago. I immediately updated to Mojave after I transferred all my files too. Now I noticed that whenever I save files on desktop, it's not going to show up unless I restart computer. I tried sorting files and cleaning up but still not showing. I opened finder too to see if it is there but theres none. Its a little bit annoying that I have to restart everytime. Missing files I encountered were when saving from Word, Photoshop, Premiere pro etc. I even tried saving in an external drive and got the same result. What should I do? Is this a bug?
