My iMovie main Library is now approaching 700gb. Am I taking a risk using a Library of this size and growing?
I just want to check if anyone has any advice on this. I've already split off non family videos to other Libraries and I have multiple backups of all Libraries and everything else using Time Machine.

You are O.K. because you have backups.
IMovie libraries can become corrupted, in which case you would lose all of your projects if you don't have backups.
However, the larger your iMovie library gets, the less efficiently it runs. It loads more slowly and functions slower. It is very easy to create libraries. I do them by years. I also have specialty libraries, like test libraries where I experiment with different effects.
In my opinion you are better off with multiple libraries rather than one massive library. But that would be your call.
