Deleting pics from Photos on MacBook Air

I imported all my photos from my iPhone onto MacBook Air. I want to delete some but they are not next to each other. It's taking ages to do individually. How can I skip the ones I want to keep? is there an easy

way?

I keep a huge Photos library file on my local drive in Photos, with all of my pictures. This is what I want to maintain as the master storage of all my photographs. I do not use iCloud for photos. Previous to Big Sur I would have used Image Capture to copy them (as a backup) and then delete them. That option seems to be gone. How to permanently delete photos off my Mac? I have recently uploaded large video files (20gb) off my old iPhone 6 to "photos" on my Mac(my iPhone runs iOS 10 I think and can't simply create "folders"). Once uploaded to "photos" on my Mac I export them to an external storage device. I delete them from the "library" and "recently deleted" section in "photos". However, after deleting them from "recently deleted" I can see they are some how moved to somewhere in "other" on my mac as the "other" section in my storage balloons from 30gb to 50gb. Does anyone know where these are going/ how to actually get rid of them?

You can select multiple photos that are not adjacent by holding down the command key as you click on them. Then hold down the control key to see the pop up menu and then click "Delete nn photos"
