Cannot install on Windows 10.

I repeatedly get the same error message halfway through installation.

"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

I am running Windows 10 64-bit.

Anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Hi germantorres,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I see you're running into an error when you install iCloud For Windows.

You'll find some great steps here that will help If you see a 'Windows Installer package' error message when you try to reinstall or remove Apple software :

When you try to reinstall iTunes, iCloud for Windows, or related Apple software on your PC, you might see a Windows Installer package error message. If you still see the error message, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.

  1. Make sure you have the latest Windows updates installed.
  2. Visit the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility website.
  3. Click Download, then click Open. If the utility doesn't open automatically, or you click Save instead of Open, you can open it from your downloads folder. The utility's name will start with MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.
  4. On the first screen of the utility, click Next.
  5. When asked if you're having problems installing or uninstalling a program, select Uninstalling.
  6. Select the program that you want to uninstall, then click Next.
  7. When asked if you want to "Uninstall and cleanup?", select "Yes, try uninstall."
The utility tries to uninstall the program. Depending on the size of the software package the utility is trying to uninstall and the speed of your computer, the uninstall process might take five minutes or more. If the utility is successful, you'll see a "Troubleshooting is complete" message.
  8. Close the utility.
  9. Repeat steps 2 through 8 for each program that you can't uninstall.
  10. After you uninstall all Apple Software, reinstall iTunes or iCloud for Windows.

If you still can't fix the issue, contact Apple Support.

I hope the information above helps you to install iCloud For Windows.

Kindest regards.

That's what I don't understand either, I tried uninstalling (including cleanup using the MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.cab), cleared temp and cached files using the free up disk space tool from Windows 10 and changed the registry values, so it'll let me start the installation in the first place.

The only thing I didn't try is to uninstall iTunes because I can't imagine an App from the Windows App Store is affecting another software product or is it?

However, if I uninstall it, will the downloaded music library stay on the device throughout the whole process?

Cannot install on Windows 10.
